The most Holy virgin Mary

The yellow stone, known as Jaumont stone and dating from the Jurassic period, is a type of sandstone that is still quarried today in Malancourt-la-Montagne near Metz. Many significant buildings in the Moselle department—such as the old train station, the Metz Palace of Justice, and Metz Cathedral—were built with this stone.

Pictured: the Marian Column in Metz on Place Saint-Jacques. It was dedicated in 1924 to thank the Virgin Mary for sparing the city during World War.  Inscription: “To the Most Holy Virgin Mary – The City of Metz – Grateful – 1914–1918 ”

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee!
