In North America: a portrait photograph of a Bohemian miner, alongside his original mining lamp and meerschaum pipe—objects that bear witness to life in Central Europe before the world wars and were brought along during emigration to North America in the 1990s.

The German-speaking Bohemians were resettled in 1947 by a state decree of the then Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. (ethnic cleansing) The old miner died three days after his expulsion in a foreign land.
