Emotions are preserved and set aside not only in language but also in the little things we surround ourselves with. Something that seems to have been casually set aside can be an object that holds emotions and memories of the utmost importance. It is a container of emotions. You can find them everywhere in the house. They lie on shelves, hang from doorknobs, and are hidden in pantries.

When reconstructing a family history, you have to take the time to look at the things inside the houses. You have to take an interest in them. These little things remain behind when we leave. They can outlast us.
