On it markings, crossings-out, and comments; reference numbers outlined twice in red and blue; travel and translation costs for the witnesses added up; witness lists noted; and a square white notepad pinned with a pin bearing the following text: <strong>&#8220;Schneider Charles; Excluded from amnesty\u2014sentence not served\u2014local group leader and shop steward in Rombas, responsible for expulsions and deportations\u201412\/18\/53 (followed by an initial)&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-15343\" src=\"https:\/\/preserving-family-history.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/der-aktendeckel-der-ermittlungsakte-innen-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/preserving-family-history.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/der-aktendeckel-der-ermittlungsakte-innen-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/preserving-family-history.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/der-aktendeckel-der-ermittlungsakte-innen-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/preserving-family-history.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/der-aktendeckel-der-ermittlungsakte-innen-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/preserving-family-history.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/der-aktendeckel-der-ermittlungsakte-innen-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/preserving-family-history.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/der-aktendeckel-der-ermittlungsakte-innen-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This went on until the edges of the file folder were completely worn away from being handled so often by the court clerks, who had to process Schneider\u2019s three petitions for clemency and three general amnesties granted by the state\u2014but none of it resulted in any success for the prisoner.
