I need a structurally multifaceted equivalence to the complex reality that research is all about. Every form of knowledge you document takes some of the burden off you. You’re pulling away.\u00a0 On the computer, I set up \u201cknowledge containers\u201d\u2014such as Excel spreadsheets, travel journals, photo journals, and digitized archival material\u2014across multiple screens. While writing, I can then move back and forth within these containers and between the historical and emotional layers, whether I\u2019m searching for something or simply reflecting and letting my thoughts wander through these landscapes.<\/p>\n
